Vodare

Vodare is a drug favoured by sadists and berserkers, especially those that worship the dread god Rallaster, known variously as the Razor God, the Insane God and the God of Madmen. It is made from the crushed petals of a flower that grows only on the graves of those who dedicated their lives to the worship of Rallaster, and carries a small portion of the god’s power and nature in it.

An extremely bitter brown powder, Vodare is almost always mixed with something to sweeten it when swallowed, such as honeyed water or sweet wine. It causes it users to grow bold, arrogant and somewhat careless of danger – a state which is ideal for committing the kinds of casual murder and offhand slaughter that Rallaster likes to see as votive offerings.

Fortunately, its use is almost unknown outside of Rallaster’s small, secretive cult, and even more fortunately, the cult exists more in name than in fact, as most of those who worship Rallaster fear the discovery of their faith, and are frequently loners to boot.

Terran Brandy

Terran Brandy is a potent and magical drink, an alcoholic beverage made from a distillation of the bodies of dying fae.

A green liquid that improves the ability of spell casters for a wildly variable length of time, it is considered too unreliable – and its origins too vile – to be widely used, other than by the most callous of magic users, or those that truly despise the fey races.

Sannish

Sannish is a bluish liquid made from a variety of ingredients ranging from wolves’ milk to the powdered form of a desert plant.

Sannish is a mild intoxicant that causes physical bliss and an immunity to pain for several hours. However, it also causes a stuporous languor in the user, who will be disinclined to take any physical actions, or even think particularly hard. It is a popular drug whose users can be easily spotted by the blue stains on their lips, which become permanent if usage goes on long enough.

Redflower Leaves

Redflower Leaves are the crushed leaves of a small big plant. It is prized for its ability to improve hand-to-eye coordination, to such an extent that witness reports tell of users not just seeming to move faster than usual but actually moving at superhuman, albeit low, speeds.

The effects of Redflower Leaves are not long lasting, and rarely last more than 10 minutes or so. It is near impossible to overdose on Redflower Leaves, as the effect of overuse is nausea, causing the drug to be expelled from the user’s body and quickly reducing its effects.

Mushroom Powder

Mushroom Powder derives from a rare blue mushroom, and is inhaled to produce hallucinations.

Its use is popular, especially with arcane spell casters, who prize the insights that it brings them, albeit at the cost of physical abilities being suppressed during its effects. Like many drugs, it causes great pain if over-used, although it takes three doses within a single 24 hour period to suffer this effect.

Mordayn Vapor

Mordayn Vapor, also known as Dreammist is an extremely potent hallucinogen, granting visions of such transcendence that many users find them so much more appealing than mundane life that it is one of the most addictive drugs in existence.

It is called Mordayn Vapor due to the way it is usually taken – by preparing the brown powdered herb that is the actual drug as a tea and inhaling the fumes that arise from it. Both the powder and its tea are deadly poisons, and experienced users know to dispose of them quickly and carefully, not least to reduce the chance of overdosing in an intoxicated stupor. The drug depresses both the wits and the constitution of the user while its effects last.

Luhix

Made from a plant that grows only in the outer plane known as the Abyss, Luhix is extremely painful to take – it is most often added directly to the blood stream via a self-inflicted wound, which is then bound up to prevent the drug from leaking out, and its immediate effect is agonizing.

However, for those users able to persevere through this pain, Luhix grants enhancements to physical and mental abilities for an hour or two, as well as an immunity to almost all kinds of pain. The one exception to this is the pain caused by Luhix itself – taking a second dose while the first is in effect, or indeed, for up to a day later, is even more painful, sometimes even to a fatal degree.

Devilweed

Devilweed is made from the leaves from the wyssin plant, which are dried and
rolled into a tobacco-like substance and smoked, although they can be taken in other ways also.

Although native to worlds where magic is common, Devilweed is not itself magical, and appears to be local equivalent of marijuana in these worlds.

Baccaran

Baccaran is mysterious drug of unknown composition, magical steroid and intelligence enhancer that also renders the user more vulnerable to magical illusions.

Curiously, despite this side effect, it is not actually an hallucinogen, and it is unclear why it has this particular and unusual effect on users. Baccaran is known to be cause great pain if overdosed on, the result of over-stressing the body with its strength enhancing qualities.

Agony

Agony, also known as Liquid Pain, is exactly what it claims to be: the distillation of pain and suffering by magical means into a drug. The resulting substance is a thick, reddish liquid resembling blood only more viscous.

It is highly prized among certain extra-planar beings, who can use it to feel pleasures greater than they are otherwise able. Side effects of Agony include an initial stunning effect that incapacitates the user for a brief period and leaves them groggy for a time after that. Curiously, it also makes them more attractive to anyone around them for a period lasting anywhere from one to eight hours.

Agony would likely be a drug of great addiction among demons, devils and their ilk, were it not for the fact that an overdose causes unconsciousness, which means that the effects are wasted instead of the users.
