I think I see the problem here: you’re involving far too many senses in the relatively simple business of trying to conduct a taste test, probably leading to some sort of synesthetic overload on your part. Perhaps some earplugs and a blindfold. I’m sure you could distinguish between lemons and limes if you did it Pepsi Challenge style.
