You know, in a song that’s supposed to be about alleviating the suffering of others, thanking God that these others are suffering in your place may not actually be the smartest or kindest of sentiments. Unless perhaps one is very much concerned about the wrath of a jealous God, which we can only assume that Messrs Geldof and Ure both are.
