Baccaran

Baccaran is mysterious drug of unknown composition, magical steroid and intelligence enhancer that also renders the user more vulnerable to magical illusions.

Curiously, despite this side effect, it is not actually an hallucinogen, and it is unclear why it has this particular and unusual effect on users. Baccaran is known to be cause great pain if overdosed on, the result of over-stressing the body with its strength enhancing qualities.

Gill Man DNA

Gill Man DNA is a powerful mutagen that is incorrectly believed by its creator to be a steroid.

Ingested in the form of steam, Gill Man DNA is derived from mutated fish DNA, itself engineered from several different fish species and then further warped by exposure to the magical energies of the Sunnydale Hellmouth.

Although it does increase the swimming abilities of those who take it, the manner in which this is achieved is by slowly mutating them into amphibious fishlike humanoids (it is not clear whether they can breathe underwater as well as in the open air).

Luhix

Made from a plant that grows only in the outer plane known as the Abyss, Luhix is extremely painful to take – it is most often added directly to the blood stream via a self-inflicted wound, which is then bound up to prevent the drug from leaking out, and its immediate effect is agonizing.

However, for those users able to persevere through this pain, Luhix grants enhancements to physical and mental abilities for an hour or two, as well as an immunity to almost all kinds of pain. The one exception to this is the pain caused by Luhix itself – taking a second dose while the first is in effect, or indeed, for up to a day later, is even more painful, sometimes even to a fatal degree.

Ocephalus Nectar

Ocephalus Nectar, often called simply Nectar, is a pink liquid produced by the large, butterfly-like insects from the planet Amphibios 9. It is used primarily as a steroid in the Moon-based sport of Butterfly Derby, but has other effects as well.

As a steroid, it enhances the user’s musculature, but especially the muscles used in flying. However, in its original context it is quite different, and is a pheromone produced by the male butterflies to attract the females. Female humans who take the drug regularly become addicted, but also highly attracted to any male – of any species – who has a large concentration of Ocephalus Nectar in their system, and compelled to mate with them.

Effects on the male include mutating into a buttefly-like hybrid and a similar compulsion to mate until such time as the chemical is used up in their system.

QuixHeal

An analgesic and healing promoter, QuixHeal is a trade name of a human-specific healing agent that assists the body in repairing the damage done by physical injuries.

QuixHeal can be combined with other painkillers and even consumed with alcohol with no ill-effects. At higher doses, it tends to cause drowsiness and deep sleep, but it continues to work on repairing the body even while the user is sound asleep.

The effects of Quixheal are limited, and it is not a substitute for major surgery. However, it will fix most bruises, scrateches, grazes, sprains and the like, up to hairline bone fractures. Anything more serious will require proper medical attention.

Thor’s Hammer

Thor’s Hammer is a highly addictive, but also highly expensive drug, sold entirely over the internet in pill form. A designer drug, it initially stymied the efforts of law enforcement agencies to analyse, as its construction includes some kind of enzymatic catalyst which renders it inert after a certain amount of time goes by, meaning that it must be taken very quickly after acquisition.

It takes about a half hour to hit, and the earliest effects are patterns, geometric grids overlayed on the vision of the user. The effects of Thor’s Hammer borrow from, and may be the result the incorporation of, certain other drugs, including ecstasy, mescaline, viagra, and LSD, as well as smart drug and amphetamine like effects. In short, it basically turns the user, for a time, into a low level superhuman, with an ego (and impaired judgement) to match. It does take a while to recover from a dose, though – few users take it as often as once a week.

Titan

A derivative of Venom, Titan combines that drug with other chemicals derived from the plants of Poison Ivy. Created by Dr Penelope Young, it was primarily used by the Joker in one of his periodic takeovers of Arkham Asylum. The Joker dosed numerous henchmen with Titan before finally taking it himself. Batman defeated them all handily anyway. Later, the Dark Knight joined forces with fellow former Venom addict Bane to destroy all remaining supplies of Titan, although it appears that Harley Quinn may still have some.

The effects of Titan are an exaggerated version of those of Venom, including massive and swift increase of musculature and strength, but also mental devolution into a berserker state. In addition, the effects of Titan are disfiguring, leading to distorted facial features and exposed spinal columns among users – the effect are also permanent.

Turgidax

Turgidax promises the user an overnight tripling of penis size, which is alleged to both improve cardio-vascular health and also sexual attractiveness. You can find it here.

Likely side effects not mentioned by the advertisment include heart palpitations, heightened blood pressure, hypertension, narcolepsy, and having your penis explode like those people’s heads did in Scanners.

Venom

One of the most addictive and dangerous of steroids, Venom first appeared on the streets of Gotham City early in the self-appointed mission of the Batman. In fact, Batman himself was one of its most prominent users for a time.

Unfortunately, in addition to enhancing strength to a superhuman degree, Venom had a number of side-effects, including muscular dystrophy (when not in use) and a capacity to addict users stronger than most drugs short of crack. Batman quickly realised this, and went cold turkey, a process that took about a month (and which was accompanied by incredible physical pain and vivid hallucinations). He never used the drug again, although villains such as Bane and Lex Luthor did.
