The lovely beach and the sky, the moon of Kauai, br>
Around calypso sarong, we’ll all be singing this song: br>
Agadoo-doo-doo, push pineapple, shake the tree! br>
Agadoo-doo-doo, push pineapple, grind coffee!
Alright. I’m all for artistic licence, but there’s a limit to how many inaccuracies I can tolerate in just three lines. Because out of the four items listed here – calypso music, sarongs, coffee beans and pineapples – a grand total of none of them are actually native to Hawaii. This is like a vision of Hawaii from a 1950s Disney movie than the real thing.
And I don’t believe for a second that any member of Black Lace got more than one kind of lei from any Hawaiian native.
